Rabbi Explains the Importance of Sucking Blood from the Penis During Circumcision

This practice of blood sucking has led to the spread of disease and infant mortality. In addition, studies show the medical benefits of circumcision are negligible, at best, blood sucking or not.

As a Godless Liberal, what are your feelings about the practice of male circumcision on infants.

people do not pay attention and first off if they did they would notice that used to only did curcumcision on slaves.. with that being said some ppl oh you dont know what your talking about ummm well this is true and royalty kept theirs intact. most ppl may say hmmm as well think about it are you a u.s. citizen with only civil rights and priviledges that is binded under a contract? or are you a freeman with constitutional an sovereign rights? well ss number makes you a product and so does your b.c look it up.

Okay, but, there's no need to alter genitalia. Cleanliness is one of the main reasons given for female circumcision as well. The prepuce/foreskin is a moist environment , which produces secretions, therefore they sew the woman's labia shut after removing the clitoris.

However, many women choose not mutilate their daughters and instead suggest splashing a bit of water on the area.

Don't you think it's odd to say that the human body has evolved for the best, yet the one thing we need to do is cut the gentitals?

Not sure what you mean by "FUD." Do you mean fear, uncertainty and doubt strategies? If so, that implies the spreading of false and dubious information.

Not all people of the jewish Faith have said they will suck blood. But, as you can see by the article Hitchens wrote for Slate, some Rabbis have refused to stop the practice.

Americans are always looking for a reason to continue circumcising males for pseudo-scientific reasons. Past reasons have included being a supposed cure for: mental retardation, epilepsy, masturbation, blindness and club-foot.

Both Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins have spoken out about this barbaric act. The issue of whether blood is sucked or not - which it sometimes is -is a red herring, As Christopher Hitchens states "Genital Mutilation is no joke."

Is it a coincidence that Hitchens & Dawkins are American are from countries where circumcision is only routinely practiced for religious reasons? Therefore these two men haven't been brainwashed in to thinking mutilating a functioning body part is something parents have a right to do?

They believe it's barbaric because it is.

It's true that it's a small minority of those in the Jewish faith who practice Mestitzah, (sucking the blood of the baby) but it is an accepted practice in some parts of the Jewish community.

However, there are a few people in Jewish Community who are proposing replacing the traditional bris with "Brit Shalom" which is a naming ceremony.
One of these people is Rabbi Donald Pollock, who is also a psychologist:
" We must examine whether our rites are right. We must determine if our ceremonies, traditions, and practices reflect our innermost beliefs. Asking ourselves and each other the question 'Why?' is one of the most sacred tasks to which a modern Jew can dedicate himself or herself.”

This guy speaks complete bullshit. Antiseptic qualities of saliva? We have one of the dirtiest mouths of the animal kingdom. Our mouths are full of bacteria that could kill most animals with a simple kiss, and this guy would like to suggest that you put a human mouth on an open wound! It'd be just as effective to let your dog lick it.
