Fundie Pastor Terry Jones burned a Quran, now outraged radical Muslims are
murdering people in Afghanistan. Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks talks about
the event and who's at fault for the killings.

I don't see a consensus among godless liberals on this issue. Let's hear

Who is to blame seems quite clear to me - while Terry Jones is a monumental twit, he hasn't stormed any UN compounds of late that I am aware of.

The Muslims in Afghanistan however did storm the compound, murder 11 people and loot the place - they chose their actions and they are entirely responsible.

Personally don't believe in either religion, I know enough about both to have my reasons in order. There are good people who are Christians and there are good Muslims too, but it's the crazed theocratic absolutists like Terry and the Muslims who murdered those people who remind me every day why I do not take part in their delusion.

Where are the ethics in this? Those 'superior' God given ethics and moral fiber these people claim to have more than Atheists. That too is a fantasy, because it is NOT ethical to burn a book when you know it may cost lives and it is NOT moral to take those lives.

Murder is murder, provocation is provocation, and I hope that if these two sides go to war they take it to the moon or something and leave us the hell out of it. Terry Jones and the Muslims who murdered need to be held accountable and punished now for their insanity and hate mongering.

By placing ANY responsibility on Terry Jones we are assuming that Islam is not the religion of peace and its adherents are not capable of independent morality or humanity.

Even if we assume that muslims are semi-human hornets, should we ignore the nest in our midst and merely eschew provocation? The real problem is much harder to solve. By ignoring it we allow the problem to fester, mutate and grow. Focusing on Jones' stupid grandstanding diverts our attention from an issue... we were already ignoring.

If moderate and liberal muslims don't want islam associated with acts of violence they need to do a lot more than remain silent in the wake of these events. If they don't take back their religion then I am quite happy to assume the louder more violent voices are the true representatives of islam.

:-* Call me crazy but this idiot might not have pulled the trigger but he does have blood on his hands. He was asked by the US government NOT to do it because it would put soldier's lives at risk. Knowing this he still went ahead and did it. I pray his God has mercy for stupid people too.
