High School Senior, Damon Fowler, has been ostracized, threatened and disowned for contesting school-sponsored prayer at his graduation on the grounds that it is unconstitutional and, technically, illegal.

Popular Atheist Blogger, Greta Christina, wrote an extensive opinion piece on the subject, wherein she notes that Fowler has been debased by students and teachers alike. He has been "physically threatened. Students have threatened to 'jump him' at graduation practice, and he has received multiple threats of bodily harm, and even death threats." But perhaps the cruelest blow to come out of this fiasco was dealt by his parents, who "have cut off his financial support, kicked him out of the house, and thrown his belongings onto the front porch."

Despite all the uproar, the prayer was said anyway, inpalce of what had been arranged to be a moment of silence. You can watch a video of the event below.

Fortunately, all is not lost for Fowler, as the Atheist Community has been astonishingly supportive of him.  The Friendly Atheist has set up a Scholarship Fund for him. (Please feel free to donate).  Not to mention that the Support Damon Facebook Page, now has 11,379 likes.

We here at Godlessliberals.com encourage you, our readers, to support this young man by whatever means possible. It won't undo all the damage that has been done, but perhaps we can make life just a little bit better for someone who has been treated so unfailry.
