Man Robs Bank To Get Healthcare In Jail

Here's your dilemma. You suffer from two ruptured discs, a foot injury, a large protrusion from your chest, carpal tunnel, and arthritis. Your ailments are severe, but are not considered an "emergency." You're concerned for your health and unable to work. You live in a country with a "for profit" healthcare system that does not consider basic medical needs a
right.

The solution James Verone, a 59-year-old convenience store

clerk from North Carolina, came to was to rob a bank. He stole $1.00 from an area bank and was hauled off to jail where he will receive the basic healthcare he so desperately needs.

President Obama's severely inadequate 'Affordable Care Act' will make it easier for American's like Verone to get health insurance, but most of its provisions don't go into effect until 2014.

What kind of a sick, twisted system of government forces a man to make such a decision?

Snowquail... I'm sure with his list of medical ailments, women are just lining down the street and around the corner for an opportunity to take care of a 59 year old man who works as a cashier at a quik-mart. Disability takes about 2 years to be approved; it's not easy nor quick and since he's working he obviously doesn't qualify. I doubt any employer would want to hire this man with his health issues; I strongly doubt he could handle 8 hours on his feet in a fry kitchen to get the limited insurance he needs. Yeah, there are lots of risks in prison (I've worked in one), but I would bet he's tried everything else and it has failed.. and this was the last option he had.
Try some empathy, bud.

A North Carolina jail.

He'll be fine.

Very inventive. But bad things happen in prison and he may regret his decision. There are other options like finding some woman with insurance and marrying her. What about going on disability (from what I have seen that is pretty easy). How about the mini-med policies offered at McDonalds? There are 1,372 companies out there with exemptions to the new medical laws. With a mini-med, he could at least get a diagnosis of what the chest lump is and maybe get it treated. If he gets killed or raped in jail then this will not look like such a good decision. I would try anything else before jail.
