As you may have all heard, last Friday "New York lawmakers narrowly voted to legalize same-sex marriage."  Gay Rights Activists and supporters cheered as the news spread: "New York will become the sixth state where gay couples can wed and the biggest by far."

While many are labeling this a landmark victory, others are singing a different tune.  People in the religious community are fearful that the words of said Sen. Thomas Duane will prove accurate:  "… we join other proud states that recognize our families and the battle will now go on in other states."  

One such person is Pat Robertson of the 700 club. You may already be familiar with Robertson's tendency to promulgate radical theology. For instance, back in 2010, he received a sundry of criticisms for calling a disastrous earthquake in Haiti, the result of a "pact to the devil."

Robertson's latest claim falls well in line with this trend. This time he has suggested that gay marriage in New York will lead to the collapse of the United States.  

In history there's never been a civilization ever in history that has embraced homosexuality and turned away from traditional fidelity, traditional marriage, traditional child-rearing, and has survived. There isn’t one single civilization that has survived that openly embraced homosexuality. So you say, 'what's going to happen to America?' Well if history is any guide, the same thing’s going to happen to us.
